Olivine Sand

Olivine sand is a high-refractoriness foundry sand used in molds, cores, and green sand systems for demanding manganese steel, steel, and non-ferrous castings.

Compared with silica sand, it has lower and more consistent thermal expansion, absorbs more heat, and better resists burn-on and other expansion-related defects, helping produce cleaner surfaces and tighter dimensional control. In many applications, it also serves as a practical low-expansion alternative to more specialized sands such as chromite and zircon.
