Custom Roof Prisms

Roof prisms are specialized optical components featuring a roof-shaped ridge on the hypotenuse face, where two surfaces meet at a precise 90-degree angle. This unique geometry creates a V-shaped ridge that enables image erection, correcting both horizontal and vertical inversion without requiring additional prisms. Roof prisms are essential in compact optical systems where space is at a premium.

Our configurator below provides instant online quoting for custom roof prisms in N-BK7 (H-K9L) and UV Fused Silica (JGS1) materials. Roof prisms are parameterized by a single face length dimension. You can select AR coatings for the entrance/exit faces.

Common applications include binoculars, spotting scopes, periscopes, and rifle scopes where compact designs with correct image orientation are essential.
